Houston, a weenie has landed (well maybe)!

Last night we had a bit of a scare. I began having bad cramping and some bleeding. We called my Midwife (whom I have yet to meet) at 11:00 pm and she was great, very calm and reassuring. She said that her office would call this am to schedule an ultrasound. We headed to Tobey Hospital for a 1:00 pm ultrasound after I downed 32 oz of H2o. You have to have a full bladder for this. Anyway, we had a rough night last night and morning today, but continue to trust in the Lord and His plan for our lives. Our little one is in good hands!

So, the ultrasound went really well. Our tech was super nice and took tons of time with us, and several pictures. She is trained in OB and very knowledgeable. We immediately heard and saw the heartbeat which was SO reassuring. One reason for bleeding in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters can be from a condtion called Placenta Previa which thankfully I do not have. She did notice a uterine contraction going on, but it ceased before the ultrasound ended. She said that many women have them and it isn't anything to worry about. Another reason for the bleeding could be fibroids. If I have them it is new news to me, since she said they are usually discovered during yearly exams.

Back to our little one: Based on her calculations she has me dated at 15 weeks, 1 day with a May 15 due date, just four days off from the original dating. We counted all of our little ones fingers and toes. His/her spine looks great as well as the brain and other bones and organs. He/she is very active, flailing arms and legs about. it was so sweet to see. Now, typically 14-15 weeks would be too early to determine the baby's gender, but Mary (our tech) said that she is very good at this and feels pretty confident that we are having a little boy! So, we will see for sure at our 20-22 week ultrasound! We are thrilled and so thankful and blessed by this incredible gift from our Lord. Please continue to pray for health and safety for the baby and me and for Paul's sanity as he deals with my lovely mood swings. He could not have been more sweet and comforting to me in all of this. He is the BEST! Enjoy the pictures. We are loving them!! It is amazing to compare them with the ultraound picture form 7 weeks. So much has happened since then.
